Experience Oktoberfest
Every year in September and October, the world’s largest beer festival, Oktoberfest, takes place, offering massive steins of beer and giant pretzels. I had the time of my life during my 5-day visit there. Don some traditional lederhosen, raise your glass, and join in singing German beer songs. Just remember to plan your trip well in advance as tickets and accommodations sell out quickly!
Hike The Black Forest
The Black Forest gets its name from the dark green pine trees that grow there. It covers a vast area of over 6,000 square kilometers (2,300 square miles) and offers numerous hiking trails to explore. While hiking, you can also take some time to visit the charming towns known for their cuckoo clocks and delicious German food. See The Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, the inspiration for the Disney castle, is a popular tourist spot in Europe, attracting over 1.5 million visitors annually. Built by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a personal retreat and tribute to Richard Wagner, this stunning palace sits on a picturesque hill in Bavaria near Füssen. While the exterior can be freely explored, the interior requires a guided tour, which must be booked in advance. Covering 6,000 square meters, the palace has only 14 completed rooms, equipped with advanced technology for its time. Admission is 15 EUR, and a guided tour is highly recommended to fully appreciate its historical significance.
Visit Germany’s tallest mountain
Germany’s tallest mountain, the Zugspitze, is situated in the Alps along the border of Germany and Austria. Standing at a height of 2,962 meters (9,718 feet), it is a popular spot for winter sports enthusiasts. However, even if skiing is not your thing, you can still have a great time by taking one of the three cable cars or the 90-year-old rack railway line to reach the summit. Once there, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views and have the opportunity to dine at one of the several restaurants serving traditional Alpine cuisine.
The cost of round-trip cable car tickets ranges from 24 to 63 EUR, depending on the season and the cable car you choose. If you prefer not to travel alone, day trips from Munich are available, providing a convenient way to reach the mountain and explore the area without worrying about transportation.
